The New Jersey Titans have announced today that the team has tendered Phillips Exeter Academy defenseman Sylas Oberting for the 2021-22 season.
Oberting, 19, played on two teams this past season while attending Phillips Exeter Academy. He had a total of three points (1 goal and 2 assists) in 29 games between the Northern Cyclones 18UAAA and New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs NCDC teams. The 5’11”, 181 lb. native of Hanover, NH is committed to play NCAA Division 1 ice hockey for Holy Cross.
“I’m excited to have the opportunity to play for Coach Doremus and the Titans organization. I can’t wait to get to work” said Oberting.
“We are excited to add Sylas to our blueline for next year” stated Titans head coach and general manager Craig Doremus. “Sylas is a player we identified earlier this year and have tracked all season. He plays a pro style game and has an identity. We think he can step right in and play a big role on the blueline next year. In addition to his on-ice abilities we are excited to add his character and leadership to the dressing room. Sylas is a mature, smart young man and we look forward to him being a Titan. We are excited to see him on the ice in July at main camp” concluded Doremus.
