Titans Name Team Captains

Oct 7, 2023

Today, the New Jersey Titans are proud to announce their leadership group for the 2023-24 season.  Returning players Reece Brednich and Ryan Novo have been named Alternate Captains, and NAHL veteran Dominick Rivelli has been named Captain in his first season in New Jersey.  Head Coach Craig Doremus said, “We are proud to have these three young men lead our franchise this season.  Each individual brings their own unique attributes to our hockey team and the way they lead our team.  It has been an impressive group overall to work with early in the season.  I am very excited now that our leadership group is in place officially to take the next steps in our pursuit of the Robertson Cup.

Reece Brednich has been in New Jersey the longest, joining the Titans after signing a tender agreement in the 2021-22 season.  A member of the Robertson Cup winning team in 2022, he recorded 3 points in 9 playoff games during that playoff run.  This season, the Lagrangeville, Kentucky native has recorded 8 points in 9 games.  On being named a captain, Brednich said “I’m excited to help lead this team, and return to the Robertson Cup Championship.  In my time here there have been great leaders like Stephen Willey, Michael Young, and Coach Craig who have provided the right example to follow.”

Ryan Novo joined the Titans last season from the Frederick Gunn School, and immediately made an impact with his hard-nosed and gritty play.  With 18 points in 40 games last season, Novo was also second on the team in penalty minutes with 141, a testament to his willingness to stand up for his teammates.  The Army commit said, “It’s an honor and privilege to be named a captain in this program.  I’m excited to follow in the footsteps of the leaders who have worn this letter before, and our team’s expectation is that we will climb that mountain once again.”

Dominick Rivelli, while only joining the Titans this year, has the most league experience, appearing in 88 games stretching back to the 2020-21 season with the Wichita Falls/Oklahoma Warriors franchise.  New Jersey’s first draft pick in the 2023 NAHL Draft, he has made an immediate impact both on and off the ice, with four goals in four games so far this season.  “In a way, its hard to put this feeling into words.  Leading this group is everything I could ask for.  It really is awesome that these guys and our coaches trust me to lead the team in this role.  Its such an honor, especially considering how respected this organization is”.

The Titans, with their new captains, face their toughest test yet in the division, with a weekend series against the Maryland Black Bears.  Games are schedule at 7:30pm on Friday, October 6th, and 7:00pm on Saturday, October 7th.
