Season In Full Swing with Plenty of Success
This past weekend was filled with success for our Titan teams as many teams had success home and away in League Play and Tournament Play.
The Titan Junior team hosted rival Central Penn in their Home Opener Friday but lost a tough one 4-3 to the Panthers. The Junior team bounced back quite nicely however with two shutouts of the New York Saints, on Saturday by a final of 9-0, and Sunday with a final score of 4-0, with goaltender Patrick Kerney recording both shutouts for the Juniors. This weekend will see the Juniors off to Hudson, New Hampshire for the MJHL Showcase hosted by the Northern Cyclones.
The Titans U16 National team had their first league game this past weekend with a visit to the Long Island Gulls at t he Aviator Arena in Brooklyn, New York. It was a dominant effort for the team territorially although they could only put four goals past the Gulls tender. The TItans outshot the Gulls 43 to 15 and came away with a 4-2 win. Glenn Florczak's two goals paced the Titan offense and Chris D'Alessio picked up the win in Net. The National team's next game will be Saturday at 8:10 PM at Howell Ice World against the NJ Devils Youth.
The Titans U16 American team also picked up a league win this past weekend extracting a bit of revenge on the Long Island Royals American team which had come into Ice World and blanked them twice in late August in Preseason Play. The Americans who were blanked 7-0 and 4-0 in late August went out and defeated the Royals by a 5-4 tally in Overtime this day after a John Puskas goal with 38 seconds sent the game to Overtime, and Ryan Burr won it for the home squad in OT. Mike Cosentino picked up the win in net.
The Titan U18 AA team also got back in the win column with a strong performance against the Toms River Blackhawks who were 8-3 coming into Sunday evening's matchup. The Titans received outstanding goaltending from Cody Reilly as he halted 52 Toms River shots in between the pipes, while getting two goals from Connor Hall and two assists from Colin Freer.
The Titan PeeWee AA team was the other team that was very successful over the weekend as the PeeWee AA's went 3-1 at the Philadelphia Regional Silver Sticks Qualifier. The AA's opened up Friday against a tough Warwick Wildcats team and picked up a 3-1 win over the Wildcats. On Saturday, the Titans came out and blitzed the Berks Bruins by a 9-1 scoreline and then kept the momentum going Saturday evening with a 7-0 thrashing of the NY City Cyclones. Although Sunday ended in disappointment with a 2-0 loss in the Quarterfinals to the Freeport Arrows, the Titans have to be proud of their performance. The Titan forward core includes Brianna Haviland, Alex Phipps, John Cernero, Shane Haviland, Ryan Burns, Robert Goehring, Chris Daugherty, Zach Tarantino, and Steven Karanassos who all contributed to the effort. The strong Titan defense was comprised of Ryan Damelio, John Hallard, Jonathan Delaglio, Hunter Price, John Gelatt, and Sean Mylod
