The North American Hockey League announced its Bauer Hockey Divisional Stars of the Week for week ending October 31 and Titans netminder Andrew Takacs was named the East Division’s Star of the week while forward Nick Ring was named honorable mention.
Takacs, 20, was between the pipes in both games this past weekend in the Titans sweep over the Johnstown Tomahawks. He stopped a combined 51 of 54 shots for a .944 save percentage and had a 1.44 goals against average. In Friday’s shootout win he stopped four of six shooters.
“Andrew has been a stabilizing force for us since joining us after the NAHL Showcase” said Titans head coach and general manager Craig Doremue. “He is a veteran goaltender who has been a calming presence for our club. Andrew is an extremely talented young man who works hard each day to improve his craft. He was excellent for us this past weekend in Johnstown with timely saves each night. We look forward to him continuing his strong play for our hockey club” concluded Doremus.
The Bowie, MD native possesses an 8-2-1 record, which is eighth best in the league. He has a 2.23 goals against average and .926 save percentage. This is the second time this season Takacs has received weekly/monthly league recognition. He was honorable mention for week ending September 26.
Ring had two points (1 goal and 1 assist) in this weekend’s sweep. On the season, the Hingham, MA native has eight points (3 goals and 5 assists) in 16 games.
